Movie Review: The Intern

When the trailer for this movie was out, I was beyond delighted! Who wouldn't wanna watch Robert De Niro all cute and old??? He looked like the Carl Fredrickson character from the animated movie Up. Those who don't know who Carl is, well, he's the cute grumpy man with the glasses who just decides to convert his house into a hot air balloon for his wife... Could anyone get any sweeter than that??? Well, Robert De Niro looked like the live version of Carl which made the movie even more delightful to watch.

One of the things I loved about the movie was that it was a pleasant movie throughout. It didn't have the usual depressing or serious scenes. And boy has it been ages since I've seen a movie without such cliched scenes!! I felt so good and happy throughout the movie. It definitely is a must watch for people who have been having a bad day...

Well the story is pretty simple. There's Jules Ostin who is played by Anne Hathaway who's the CEO of her startup called About The Fit, an e-commerce site that sells clothes. So, they come out with an outreach program where senior citizens can intern at their firm. That's where Ben Whitaker (played by Robert De Niro) enters the story when he joins About The Fit as an intern. Ben is a widower who is a retired executive from a phone directory company. He has a very monotonous life and he felt he needed to do something engaging at the age of 70 and thus ends up at Jules' firm and unfortunately as her intern.

I'm not spoiling the rest of the story but the movie goes on showing how Jules isn't very comfortable with Ben initially but later bonds with him and they end up becoming good friends. Their friendship is beyond adorable and I was continuously awwwwwwing throughout the movie.

I'm guessing I love the movie because Robert De Niro looks beyond cute in the movie. I'm probably sure you might have got more than a dead giveaway that it might be the only reason why I liked the movie. But the movie is more than about the cuteness of Robert Di Niro. It's a movie you could definitely go with family for and a real feel good movie.

P.S. But I still stand by the fact that Robert Di Niro was amazing in this movie! Period!

Movie Review: Queen

Hearing mixed reviews on this highly anticipated movie, I decided I might as well check this movie out and boy was it worth a watch!!It's a total fun filled movie and I must say.. Kangana was just out of the world!!

The storyline is pretty simple: Rani (played by Kangana Ranaut) gets dumped by her fiance, Vijay (played by some douchebag, and boy did he do a good job at it..) just the day before their wedding. So the all depressed Rani decides to go for her honeymoon trip which was planned to France and Amsterdam. The story goes on about how she fights through her sadness and meets new people where Vijayalakshmi (played by Lisa Haydon) pops in. And guys... you must go for the movie just for her.. she is totally HOT...Rani has a blast with her and then goes to Amsterdam where she meets more people. There isn't much of a story to the movie but it is really enjoyable.

Kangana has done total justice to Rani. She plays this innocent naive girl from a village who goes to a world nothing like her hometown and I don't think anyone else would have executed the role any better than her. With barely any makeup on, Kangana Ranaut  just looks out of the world pretty. You will just love her by the end of the movie.

It's a feel good movie and it teaches you that no matter what shit happens to you..it's all for a reason..and things work out no matter what. This movie is a must watch for all those girls out there cause all the movie shouts out is "GET OUT THERE!!! FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR LIFE!!"

Movie Review: The LEGO Movie

First of all,  Happy New Year, to all of our readers.

We truly apologize for not keeping this blog updated.

We have no reason besides pure laziness.

We hope to change that soon with our first post of 2014.

What better way than to do a review of the really awesome Lego movie. 

If you have played with Lego bricks as a kid and had tonnes of fun and also got frustrated when someone was making a better model than you and you "accidentally" tripped on it like the Incredible Hulk, you have to have to watch this movie. 

If you haven't  played with Lego, then I just feel really really sad. Your childhood must have sucked. Stop reading, go now like right now and pick up some Lego toys and make funky stuff.  After that, go watch the movie in the theater. 

The story as they say is of a nobody who saved everybody. When they say everybody, they mean everyone, from Shakespeare to Gandalf to Dumbledore to Wonder Woman to Superman.. basically all of the Master Builders. 

A very thoughtful story that will really appeal to the kids as well as the adults. What blew me away was the animation,the funny one liners and the awesome voice over cast.

Morgan Freeman as wizard Vitruvius was awesome. They made a good choice in selecting Morgan. He fits the bill perfectly. 
The funniest was Will Arnett as Batman. The "Untitled Self Portrait" song should be made the official Batman theme song. Do check it out and tell me I'm wrong. Go ahead tell me. 

All in all, this is a feel good movie. When you come out of the movie hall, you will feel that you are special and awesome. By now if you did notice, the over usage of the word "awesome", that's cuz the official song of the movie is called "Everything is awesome" and everything indeed is. :)

Movie Review: Sandcastle

We were contacted by Ginger Liu from Ginger Media & Entertainment to do a review on this movie.

Sandcastle is the first feature film by well known Indian theatre personality, Shomshuklla Das.

The movie revolves around Sheila, who is an aspiring writer from an upper middle class family in urban India. She has the perfect life, at least to the outside world, married to a very successful man who's able to provide her everything to live a comfortable life. They both have a beautiful daughter.

Sheila finds her life boring and far from perfect. She's tired of being the stereotypical wife, attending to her wifely duties and being a good mother.

She's sick of the routine,being a trophy wife, and lacks a sense of achievement, a condition all too common in urban India.

She comes across Maya, who tells her to build her own sandcastles with her life. Maya tells her to follow her dreams and not be a doormat letting people walk all over her.

Sheila starts writing her book with Maya's help by using her as an inspiration. Maya in turn helps her to stand up for herself.

Sandcastle has been nominated in the London International Film Festival 2013 under the Best Foreign Language Feature Film

Shahana Chatterjee as Sheila has done a commendable job playing the complex role of someone who's got all that she needs and still feels an emptiness.

The movie is an in-depth albeit slow narrative into the life of the modern Indian house wife - her comfortable yet boring and under-stimulated life. The women in urban India can easily relate to the movie.

My only gripe with the movie is that it could have been a bit more fast paced.

Movie Review: Madras Cafe

I was barely eight when Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated. Even after more than twenty years, I still recall the pall of gloom that descended on that small, remote town in Arunachal Pradesh. Those days were long before the advent of cable TV. Newspapers usually were dated three days back by the time they reached our sleepy town, so naturally, not much was known about what had transpired at that fateful rally. 

I recall the men, engaged in intense discussions, and the women, fighting to control their tears. What, everyone wondered, could possibly incite the brutal killing of a man that was loved by the entire country.  I was too young to understand political machinations, all I realized was the permanence of death, and that the handsome man we used to see on Doordarshan was no more. 

I remember watching the funeral on TV, the Gandhi siblings putting on a brave, dignified face, as people across the country wept, some openly, others surreptitiously. Since then, numerous people have been arrested, mercy petitions have presented, rejected, and then presented again. Many theories have been floated, debated and dismissed. Perhaps we will never know the truth. But now, here’s a movie that explores the geopolitical events of that age to understand the motivations that ultimately led to the assassination.

Madras Café is directed by Shoojit Sircar, of Vicky Donor fame - and what a contrast this movie is, as compared to his earlier effort. It is stark, gritty and unrelenting. Major Vikram Singh is sent to war torn Jaffna as an undercover agent to help the Indian government achieve the aim of conducting peaceful elections in Sri Lanka. His mission is to encourage an uprising against Anna, who considers himself to be a revolutionary and has built up a massive army named the LTF.

The rest of the movie deftly combines fact and fiction and takes you through the ideological differences of the two factions, the capitalist approach to the necessity of war, and the triumph of greed over morals. The film underlines how civil war, while being the scourge of any nation, fills the coffers of the big defence and armaments companies.  The heartbreaking images of pain and suffering are haunting. It is implied that while the Indian government is intent on restoring peace, someone in the chain is hand in glove with the corporations, and is providing inside information on troop movements and plans, so the rebels are always a step ahead.

The film moves across Sri Lanka, India and Bangkok, stitching the taut storyline together. A word about the editing - if the first half is well paced, the second half is positively a high speed thrill ride. As the tension builds, the soundtrack is in tandem, adding flair without being intrusive at any point. For a movie to create this kind of suspense while telling the story of a well-known and still remembered tragedy is a triumph of film-making. 

Madras Café is anchored by a superb cast. John Abraham playing the role of Vikram Singh, does full justice to his role, always intense, always restrained, no over the top antics or needless bravado. It was a delight to watch the suave Siddhartha Basu as Robin Dutt, the RAW Chief, while Piyush Pandey was impressive too. For me, the one character that stood out was Bala, an Indian intel officer based in Sri Lanka. Prakash Belawade gets under the skin of the hard drinking, aggressive character and delivers a great performance. SP, another intel officer, also makes an impact, as do the LTF suicide bombers. Their preparation for the assassination is handled realistically, showing the inevitable attack of nerves as the hour looms closer. Nargis Fakhri seemed to be the only weak link, her performance slightly wooden, her role not very well defined. Ruby, Major Vikram Singh’s wife, seems to have been included in the plot as an afterthought, and does not have much screen time or relevance. Also, the flashback style storytelling was unnecessary, as was John Abraham’s disheveled look in those scenes. 

These minor gripes aside, Madras Café made for a riveting watch. Finally, Bollywood has managed to churn out a political thriller that is taut, hard hitting and sensitive at the same time. I would recommend you go catch this movie at the theater. It might be a while before something as good comes along.

Movie Review: The Wolverine

I quite like the X-Men series for a couple of reasons:-

• You have a number of characters with interesting powers
• There is no 'superman' among the X-men in the sense that all are equally strong or vulnerable and that makes them relatable 
• They face issues of discrimination adding a grey dimension to the conflict of good and evil

The X-men movies were average at best with the exception of X-men first class which was a truly great movie. For me a movie - specially a superhero movie - should make me relate to the character. It's fun dialogue is an added bonus (thank you Avengers). 

Among the long list of X-men characters one stands apart and that is Wolverine. His menacing claws, his cool healing ability and hos bad attitude make for a fun character and this lead to two movie spin-outs (i) X-men Origins: Wolverine and the currently running (ii) The Wolverine 

The first movie (Origins) was pretty lame. Yes it had a number of characters, yes it covered his mysterious back story and yes there was a fair amount of fighting, but it still did not work. I guess my expectations from a Wolverine movie were too lofty which is why I felt The Wolverine will give the character the movie he deserves. 

It tried and failed. Yes the movie helps us understand what Wolverine was going through, his life of seclusion and his 'curse' of immortality but the pace was too slow. There was also an unusual lack of other mutants which is a departure from the series and most disappointing. I know this is not an X-men movie in that sense but I still expected a little but of mutant vs mutant death battles. 

About the actual story, without giving anything away i'd say it was needlessly convoluted and at times down right stupid. While the broad theme is interesting the actual story seems far to contrived and leaves many unanswered questions. Now you can get away with a shoddy story if you have great action sequences (Pacific Rim i'm looking at you) but here the action was few and far between and even then practically no mutant on mutant fun. 

My final gripe is with 3D, all the theaters here were playing it only in 3D and there was nothing in the movie that would justify it.

Movie Review: RED 2

I don't know where to start the review for this movie.

This movie was just brilliant. This is easily one of my top picks for this year.

When RED was released in 2010 I was not even aware of this movie. I was browsing on imdb on the list of Bruce Willis movies and this came up. After reading up on this movie and the stunning cast, I was surprised that I never heard about this movie nor seen it.

When I saw it, I was laughing non stop and absolutely loved the action. I wanted to be as bad-ass as Helen Mirren's character. John Malkovich was quirky and really funny by trying so hard not to be funny. 

When I came to know they are making a sequel for this movie, I was skeptical. Will they be able to live up to the first movie? Sometimes the movie is so good just by making the sequel might leave a bitter taste just like the Ocean 10 , 11.. series. 

Oh Boy was I wrong?? This movie was just as good as the first one with the added bonus of Catherine Zeta Jones & Anthony Hopkins. 

Mary-Louise Parker was a surprise package. I mean she was there in the first movie as the confused girlfriend of Bruce Willis. In the second part she was given a meatier role. 

Ladies you have Byung-hun Lee to drool on. His introduction in the movie is just worth the money. I was drooling all over and that man can work a suit. Barney Stinson would be so proud of him!!

The movie goes all over Europe with everyone hired to kill each other. The story is not that great but the action and comedy just makes up for the lack of it. 

So people go out and catch this movie in the nearest movie theater.

Movie Review: Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

This movie is about (for those who are living under a stone and never heard of Milkha Singh) Milkha Singh, who was a field and track athlete and represented India in the 1956 & 1960 Olympics. 

The producers claim that this movie is not a sports movie but a film about human spirit.

Well that they did. 

They captured the spirit of Milkha Singh to the dot, what made him run and get the famous pseudo name 'The Flying Sikh'. 

The people out there who say that we, Indians, can't get into the Olympics because of lack of infrastructure and support need to watch this movie. In the 50's & 60's if Milkha Singh could do it then so can this generation. All we need is the drive and determination to do it.

Coming to the awesome bit of the movie, i.e Farhan Akhtar. That man has done his homework and is a treat to watch on the big screen. 

YOWZA!!!

I'm sure Milkha would be proud of Farhan Akhtar portraying him. Farhan was awesome. I would have been fine watching this movie even if it was in a different language all together. 

Sonam Kapoor had little or no role. Hers should have been credited as a guest appearance and nothing more. 

A special mention to the child actor, Japteg Singh, who played a younger Milkha Singh. 

All in all this a must watch for everyone. A lot of inspiration and motivation to go out and run. 

For all the women out there, its worth the money just to see Farhan!!

Movie Review: ABCD (American-Born Confused Desi)

This movie is definitely for those Dulqar Salman fans!!!And hence me totally in love with it!
An absolute entertainer and nothing more especially with its pointless story-line and poor climax.For the guys out there who don't go drooling over every stupid thing Dulqar does,they'll just find it to be an okay movie.But for those who do drool over him....Girls...you are in for a ride!!!It's Dulqar everywhere!!!Hotter than ever!!

The story (though there really isn't anything..) is where the American-born Malayalee teenager (the amazingly hot Dulqar) gets send to Kerala after he puts himself into a lot of trouble back in America(you can blame it all on the messed up hormones).He's fooled into coming to India by his dad (played by Lalu Alex) saying it's a one month vacation but his dad has other plans for him.His father gets him into a college in Kerala.Johns(played by Dulqar) is accompanied by his best pal Korah (played by Jacob Gregory) are stuck in Kerala with no money or ticket to get back to America.His dad provides them a measly amount of 5000 Rs to survive a month which would become even less if they fell short of attendance in college.The movie then goes on about how they try to get money to get back and all the trouble they get into.

Another prominent role is taken up by Aparna Gopinath (playing the role of Madhumitha) though she doesn't play the heroine look.She is their friend from college and helps get the Johns-Korah duo out of trouble most of the time.She plays a strong activist role and it's really fun to watch her especially her ears that had about a million piercings on it.

The songs in the movie are also fun especially the pointless song Jhonny Mone Jhonny which is sung by Dulqar himself.The video of the song is pretty good too.

Overall the movie is really fun to watch especially with friends.You could watch it more than once to get a good laugh or if you just go on ogling on Dulqar..:)..It's a must watch for those who love entertainment movies and also for those Dulqar fans.

Movie Review: After Earth

anticipation on whether the film would leave me astounded just like The Pursuit of Happyness. It let me down sourly.The story was really good(considering Will Smith himself wrote it), an amazing star cast (though it mainly consists of the Smiths..but who does't love them) but the direction was poor which was a major letdown to the audience.The movie starts abruptly, ends abruptly and the middle is really slow and hence leaving the viewers really frustrated.

The plot runs around the lines where the humans are living on another planet called the Nova Prime as Earth becomes inhabitable due to environmental cataclysm.The father-son duo accidentally crash land their ship on earth after being hit by an asteroid shower.The crash leaves Will Smith with two broken legs.So, he sends his son,Jaden Smith (boy, that must be a tough role to enact!!) in search of the beacon in order to send a signal back to Nova Prime. The flora and fauna of Earth are evolved to an extent where they pose a threat to human life. The movie then goes on to show how he has to fight these monstrous creatures and blah blah blah...These full on action scenes leaves me asking one simple yet important question :WHERE ARE THE GUNS???Throughout the movie ,I'm expecting laser guns and other powerful armory to pop out any moment.Sadly, I'm left disappointed with nothing other than good old hand to hand combat.

The movie has a few "over science-fictionalized" scenes which makes it really hard to take the movie seriously. All in all, the below-par direction was the major setback for this movie which otherwise would have been huge with the impressive cast, story line and a couple of special effects.

It's a one time watch unless you are a die-hard Will Smith or sci-fi fan.One thing that did leave me astounded after watching the movie was how young Will Smith still looked. The movie reminded me of his Men in Black days and leaves me in awe.I see a lot of potential in Jaden Smith who is definitely a promising actor and we can definitely hope to see him carve a career similar to his dad's.

Movie Review: Man of Steel

Man of Steel … Is it the best superhero movie of all time? Well, no… but it is by far the

best superman movie of all time. Why is it so hard to make a good superman movie? Well that’s because of superman’s near god-like powers (thanks to his ability to absorb solar radiation from yellow or blue sunlight) which are:-

1. By absorbing enough solar radiation superman can ‘effortlessly’ move planets
2. He has X-ray vision – can see through all objects except lead
3. Telescopic vision – can see far out into space
4. Microscopic vision – can see at the subatomic level
5. Supervision – can see objects moving faster than light
6. Multispectral vision – can see in the electromagnetic spectrum
7. Super hearing - He can hear sounds ‘millions’ of miles away and through the vacuum of space (huh)
8. Super flight  - can fly at 8 times the speed of light
9. Super strength – can punch with the force of a supernova (10 octillion megatons if you must know)
10. Super healing – practically invincible, can take being hit by 15 planets and keep on walking
11. Super breath – can simple blow away the bay guys
12. Freeze breath – can freeze everything around him
13. Heat vision – able to incinerate entire planets
14. Can vibrate his body to phase through objects and turn invisible
15. Super brain – can process information thousands of times faster than a human brain; has photographic memory; is a technological genius
16. Invincible – well this has not been stated explicitly but in the comics when he was apparently killed his body went into a healing coma and he soon recovered and was back to kicking ass

His only weakness is kryptonite which takes away all his superpowers and could eventually kill him after prolonged exposure. This why most superman movies involve kryptonite and it’s always the same old wine in a new bottle.  Man of Steel - however is different. It’s about superman, the person. It adds realism and personality to his character. For the first time we can almost relate to him. His struggle with his powers, his dilemma to help people yet remain hidden, his search to find out about his past. 

This movie shows a very human side of him and does it well. Then there’s the villain element. Here superman is up against multiple characters that equal him in strength. The fighting is truly epic with entire city blocks being leveled. The collateral damage adds to the realism. I did find the ending fight to be a bit too Neo Vs Agent Smith (from the matrix) but I guess that’s to be expected and is not necessarily a bad thing.

In summary Man of Steel does a great job in introducing the character. The detailed back story covered very effectively. The action is well paced and all the actors did an excellent job. However I did feel the ending could have been more dramatic. My biggest gripe with the movie though is the frequent use of a shaky cam effect which gets annoying to watch especially in the less action scenes. While it does add some documentary-like feel it’s clearly overused.

I recommend watching the movie. My rating:3.5/5.

Movie Review: Now You See Me

The trailer of this movie, when it came out last year was very inviting and promising.

It looked like it would be in the lines of  The Prestige and The Illusionist. If you haven't seen these movies, please watch them. They are highly recommended if you like magic and illusion.

It looks like a full action packed magic-adventure roller coaster ride with a phenomenally good cast.

Morgan Freeman & Michael Cane.. Do I need to say more??

And the Hulk aka Mark Ruffalo!!!

The movie starts off really good with a brief background of each magician's specialty. They have been called to a single location by a mysterious person to start their own show in Las Vegas.
They are known as The Four Horsemen!!

The first half of the movie is really fast paced, keeps you at the edge of the seat.

I wish I could say the same of the second half too. I really want to like this movie but the ending of the movie has left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I compare this movie to a three course meal where the starter and main course is out of the world. The dessert just falls flat on the ground. Its like a sunk cake. This is the side effect of watching too many cookery shows.  Must stop watching these shows..  :(

I mean just see this trailer. Its really really good!!

Michael Cane was wasted in this movie. A versatile actor and to be given a minuscule role, such a shame!!
Jesse Eisenberg played Mark Zuckerberg again, the socially awkward guy.

I would recommend this movie to everyone, just to watch the first half of the movie.

My rating: 3/5 (I would have given a 4 but the climax was really blah!!)

Movie Review: Gippi

This is an out-an-out girly movie.  Lots of fun, laughter, embarrassment, pains of growing up and how life is so over since the guy we had a crush on doesn't even know we existed.

I mean every woman/girl can relate to Gurpreet aka Gippi.

This movie reminded me of all the Hollywood movies that I watched as a kid in the 90's such as Matilda, Little Rascals, Casper,Rookie of the Year, Parent Trap.. Good clean kids movie.


All the actor have done a good job.

Starting with Gippi, she's the clumsy, fat and not so popular girl in school and has her set of friends who are geeky with the stereotypical glasses.

She has her younger annoying brother who provided the comic relief in the movie.

Then you have the popular girls aka the bitches who have straight hair, slim, sexy and hot. I hate those kinds!! :)

Then you have the guys, the chocolate boy and the bad ass. Every girl's kryptonite!!!!

A special mention goes to Divya Dutta for playing the coolest Punjabi mom superbly!

All in all a fun afternoon watch with your girlfriends!!

All the girls/women out there, give this movie a shot. To the guys, don't bother. I'm sure you all would have hated it from the title itself.

Movie Review: Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani

This movie was A Awesome!!! The whole movie is as fun as this movie poster on the right.

There was a lot of hype around the movie because it was the first movie after the Ranbir-Deepika  break up and the promoters of the movie played on that line in the trailers to get people interested.

They didn't need to do that because the movie was bloody good.

This is a typical Karan Johar family entertainer with the whole emotional(rhona-dhona) twist being tuned 10 notches down. There was a bit of drama but then again what would a Karan Johar movie be without it.

Let me start of with the song and dance bit. The songs were catchy. My favorite is "Badtameez Dil". Benny Dayal has sung it beautifully and his voice suits Ranbir to the T. Coming to Ranbir, he was, like Russell Peter would say, "Mind Blasting" in this song.  He danced so well.

Next is "Ghagra" which featured Madhuri Dixit. It was money's worth just to see the goddess dance. She was so graceful and I loved her in this song.

Kalki Koechlin & Aditya Roy Kapoor, playing the friends, were not reduced to just a couple of scenes. They had equal footage in the movie which is commendable and they did full justice to their roles.

Deepika unfortunately didn't have much of a role. I mean she did, after all she's the heroine but I feel  they didn't use her to her full potential. She had a meatier role in Cocktail.

PR somehow got the idea that there was a lesbian angle to the movie and some sort of scene would be there, I'm guessing between Deepika & Kalki. Well sorry to disappoint PR & the rest of the guys - no lesbian scene and no lesbian angle.

This was an out-and-out Ranbir Kapoor movie and he has held the movie strongly on his shoulders. This could be the reason I loved the movie cuz he was just YUM in the movie.

My verdict: 4.5/5

Movie Review: Hangover Part III

This was one movie I was eagerly waiting for in 2013 and what a disappointment it turned out to be.

They didn't go by the plot that was used in the previous movies, which I wished they did cuz without that its not a hangover movie.

What made this series successful was that the wolf-pack along with the audience was trying to piece together the events of the previous night. The fact that we accompanied them in their journey of discovery helped us get more involved in the movie.
Where this movie fails is that the plot was revealed to us earlier on and all that is left are couple of humorous scenes.


The funny bits were not even haha ROFL types funny like the tiger scene in part 1 or the Buddhist monastery scene in part 2.

The biggest disappointment was that Stu didn't sing a song in this one.

Post the initial credits of the movie, we see a true "hangover" moment. What I would have loved is to see the current hangover 3 movie compressed into the first 30 mins and the remainder of the movie exploring the events that led up to the above mentioned "hangover" moment. Now that would have been worth the money!!

Movie Review - Fast and Furious 6

I have watched Fast & Furious 1 & 2 and haven't bothered with the rest of the series.

First of all I wasn't aware that they had made 5 movies in this series. So when PR wanted to watch F&F6, I was quite surprised.

To get me intrigued, I was made to watch the trailer which looked promising. I mean its all about the cars and the car chases.

I'm not gona talk about the plot of the movie. If you want that please refer IMDB. This is what I thought about the movie.

The motto of the movie is that it takes a thief to catch another one and so it begins.The first half was good with all the car chases. Paul Walker looks old and domesticated in this movie so that was a huge disappointment. I had a huge crush on him when I saw F&F1 .

Vin Diesel is as usual muscular, bald and beefy. To keep him company we have Dwanye Johnson aka The Rock(he should have legally changed his name to The Rock. Dwayne is such a wimpy name)  also ripping his muscles.

The movie goes downhill in the second half to the point of being hilariously funny. The scene where Diesel jumps out or flies out of a moving car, catches the girl mid-air and safely lands on another moving car is far fetched that Diesel should join the Rajinikanth-Chuck Norris club.

The cherry on the cake is the runway scene, which is not necessarily a scene, its the whole second half of the movie. The below picture will give you an idea of the runway.

Spoiler Alert: So at the end of the movie, they show what we can expect F&F7. Yes there is going to be an F&F7. Jason Statham is getting added to the wolf pack. 

PR was like, just imagine F&F10, it will be a combination F&F with the The Expendables team. There will be so much of testosterone on the screen that it will start to sprout hair. :P

Movie Review: Go Goa Gone

I can't believe the first post in this blog is going to be about a zombie movie.

Personally I'm not at all a fan of Zombies or  movies related to the horror/zombie genre.

I had read sometime last year that Bollywood has bitten by the Zombie bug and are in the process of making movies on this subject.

In the article two movies were mentioned

• Rise of the Zombie
• Go Goa Gone (I was surprised that Illuminati Films(Saif Ali Khan's production company) was producing it)

I didn't give it much thought and dismissed them as trashy movies which will not go down well with the Indian audience.

Fast forward to March 2013, when the trailer of Go Goa Gone was released. It intrigued me further when I came to know that it is branded as India's first zombie comedy and that Saif, Vir Das and Kunal Khemu are acting in it. Though I couldn't digest Saif with his blonde hair. 

The words comedy & Vir Das are synonymous. Come on, Dehli Belly, do I  need to say more?

My husband, hereby in the blog known as PR, does not like watching Bollywood movies at all. The last movie he enjoyed thoroughly was Delhi Belly. 

When I told him that I want to watch Go Goa Gone, his first reply was 'No way in hell'.

I had to sell the movie to him, by saying that its got Vir Das in it,it is similar to Delhi Belly and last but not the least ZOMBIES!!

Coming to the movie, I found it hilarious! This is a movie where you feed your brain to the zombies and just enjoy the slapstick comedy. 

Vir and Kunal play the 21st century corporate Indian to the T aka getting stoned & drunk and being frustrated with their jobs. Anand Tiwari plays the geeky friend quite well.

What I loved were their names in the movie: Luv, Hardik & Bunny. If I didn't know people with similar names , I would have thought the script writers were stoned when they came up with these names.  People in India are actually named these out of the world names and that mind you is not even their nicknames.

Saif as Boris, the desi converted Russian gangster is quite funny. The fake accent is well really fake!!

The soundtrack is quite catchy and hilarious. My personal favorite tracks are Babaji ki Booti
and Khoon Choos le.

The zombie scenes were quite graphic. I personally didn't like it but if you can stomach it(no pun intended), like I did, the movie has many genuinely funny moments and excellent chemistry between the characters. Definitely first of its kind in Bollywood.

My rating : 3.5/5

In case you are wondering, PR loved the movie so much that he dragged his office friends to watch it again.
